Organised by Hustle & Bustle, Dale Chihuly: Glass in Bloom was Chihuly’s first major garden exhibition in Asia, held over the course of 5 months from 1 May to 3 October 2021. With its unique proposition of holding the exhibition within an outdoor venue at Gardens by the Bay, the exhibition was organised with the intention to make art accessible to all, allowing visitors to explore art amongst the serenity of the gardens and the vibrancy of the domes. Featuring over 27 architectural installations and over 100 artworks, H&B was able to create a grandiose exhibition that was further enhanced with the usage of lights, specifically positioned to create a new visual during the nights where natural light was not an option.
With the expanse of horticulture that Gardens by the Bay offered, the exhibition was able to feature installations across different areas and evoke different emotions. From the serene feeling of being in a Japanese zen garden, to the gravity-defying chandelier hanging right beside a waterfall in its first ever installation of its kind, the combination of Gardens by the Bay and Dale Chihuly’s sculptures created a one of a kind exhibition never seen before in Asia.
